The big metagame changes to League of Legends could be bad

League of LegendsIn the next patch, League of Legends is going to do massive rework of its two permastealth champions, Evelynn and Twitch. The changes were absolutely needed. Evelynn had a horrible shape. As of now, she is the least-selected champion of this game and her gameplay had to be changed a lot. Twitch was in better shape but was not selected on Summoner’s Rift for any of its two roles-jungle and carry. On Dominion, Twithc was a strong choice. The developer, Riot Games have decided to go for complete rework for these two champions so that Twitch’s stealth could be weakened and it could be a normal carry.

Evelynn had undergone complete rework and now she is very different from her old self. She is more like a new character now. Both of these champions of the League of Legends game are still strange. Despite the changed made in them, none of these characters is an example of any element of the current metagame. What is felt is that this practice of changing metagame is dangerous. Riot has introduced one very strange champion recently which is Jayce. The stealth rework patch will be succeeded by Zyra who is the owner of very strange pet mechanics/ caster.

With the incorporation of all these Meta changes, League of Legends has become very much unpredictable. Though it is felt that the stealth rework is absolutely needed, what is bothering the gamer that Riot is coming with a lot of strange champions in a row as it makes the metagame a weird thing. The same thing happened when Viktor, Ziggs and Ahri were released by Riot within a very short time period. Viktor is considered to be weak, Ziggs underplayed and Ahri brought wild changes to the meta and needed to be iterated many times to be brought back to line.

Most of the gamers won’t agree with these sorts of changes and if we gamer look at the impact of even single weird champion, the changes are far-reaching. If we look at the Jax rework and the way changes were brought by it in many top lane matches, we can make out that these changes do not make the gameplay better. There are many people who are still not accustomed to him and he has a very high win rate.

Now we are looking at four new champions (which mean the Xin Zhao rework is completely discounted) within a short time period. We are expecting heavy play testing on PBE with Two new champions Evelynn and Twitch and they are going to be important factors in the new metagame. It is good to have the introduction of weird champions once in a while but four in a month is going to be a bit more and for the gamers the situation does not remain within the limit. The impact of Evelynn to the game will be huge. The current solo top match ups are strange are everyone is trying to get adjusted to what Jayce can do. Now if that combines with addition of Evelynn to solo top and jungle. Twitch to bottom lane, and Zyra to middle, the players have to learn and practice to handle many new threats. All these are going to be painful for the players to learn and the developers to analyze.
